   Proposal Description:
   The goals of this project are 1) to assess the impact of a TBI with a loss of     consciousness on the age of dementia diagnosis using an autopsy-confirmed         sample and 2) to support previous research findings for an earlier age of         onset of dementia syndromes following a remote TBI with a loss of                 consciousness. It is expected that this project's results will support the        findings of previous research using a clinical population, which showed a         remote TBI with a loss of consciousness resulted in an earlier diagnosis of       Mild Cognitive Impairment (2.3 years), Frontotemporal Dementia (2.8 to 3          years), and Alzheimer's Disease (~2 years, under review).                         Specific Objectives:                                                              1) Test the hypothesis that a remote TBI with a loss of consciousness results     in an earlier age of dementia diagnosis in an autopsy-confirmed sample            2) Support previous research (this year) regarding the relationship of TBI with   autopsy findings (e.g. TBI may be associated with an increase in Lewy Body        formation, Crane et al [2016]).                                                   3) Contribute to the limited literature regarding TBI as a risk factor for        dementia in an autopsy sample.
